Martin Earns Second MIAA Player of the Week Honor

FREELAND, Mich.—Trine's Hayley Martin has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday.

Martin (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) averaged 18 points and 9.5 rebounds last week helping the Thunder to earn wins over Kalamazoo and Alma. The junior added five blocks, four steals and three assists. Martin was perfect from the free throw line and shot 53.6% from the field.

The Thunder moved up to No. 24 in the polls this week and is off to the best start in school history with a 14-1 overall record. Trine is 7-0 against the MIAA. The Thunder is also on a 13 game win-streak that is the second longest in school history.

Martin leads the Thunder at 15.9 points per game this season and also holds the top spot in rebounds with 6.1 per game. Martin is fourth in the league in points per game and is third with a 51.6 field goal percentage.

Trine returns to action on Wednesday when it will play host to Hope College. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. in Hershey Hall.
