Dawson and Martin Named to D3Hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region Team

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn.—Trine women's basketball's Brandi Dawson and Hayley Martin have been named to the D3hoops.com 2016-17 Women's All-Great Lakes Region Team.

Dawson (Garrett, Ind./Garrett) earned first-team honors, while Martin (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) was named second-team. Dawson and Martin led the Thunder to its first ever MIAA title and NCAA tournament appearance. Both players were named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week once this season.

Dawson led the Thunder offense averaging 15.4 points per game. Dawson ranked fifth in the MIAA in points per game and was third with a 54.5 field goal percentage. Dawson hit double digits in scoring in 22 games this season, including scoring a career-high 33 points against Hope on Jan. 18. Dawson was named MIAA Most Valuable Player of the Year.

Martin was second on the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game. The junior led Trine's defense with 6.7 rebounds per game and 2.3 blocks. Martin was fourth in the MIAA with a 50.5 field goal percentage. Martin hit double digits in 22 games this season and notched five double-doubles. Martin was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Year this season.

The Thunder wrapped up its season with a 25-3 record. Its 25 wins tied its school record.
