ANGOLA, IND. -- The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released its annual attendance report for the 2018-19 women's basketball season and Trine University finished in the top-25 ranking with the 14th highest attendance in Division III.
Trine averaged 465 fans per game in 2018-19 to rank 14th overall. The Thunder were one of two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) members to make the list with Hope (Mich.) College taking top honors with a 954 average.
For the the first time in conference history, the MIAA was the top conference in NCAA Division III women's basketball attendance. The nine-member women's conference ranked first nationally with a home-game average of 694 fans per game to lead the country.
The top regular season game featuring two NCAA Division III women's basketball teams was the Calvin at Hope contest Feb. 6 (1,595); that game ranked third overall for the 2018-19 competition season for Division III women's basketball games.
Although the 2018-19 season marked the first time the MIAA was the national attendance champion for women's basketball, this year marks the 13th time since 1983 an MIAA-member institution has been the national leader.

Trine ended the 2018-19 season with a school record-tying 26 victories (26-3), including finishing the conference regular season undefeated (16-0) for the first time in program history, and claim its second outright conference regular-season and tournament titles for the second time in the last three years (2016-17 and 2018-19). The Thunder shared the conference regular-season championship last year (2017-18). Trine also made a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament where the Thunder advanced to the second round.
