Thunder Third at Jamboree as Worthington Medals

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Behind the seventh career win by sophomore Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport), the Trine University women's golf team finished third with a score of 347 at the third MIAA Jamboree of the season. After the round the Thunder moved into the important fourth spot in the conference standings with a three-round total of 1071 to surpass Hope who now has a combined score of 1073. Olivet continues to lead the conference with a 974.

Hosted by Calvin College at the par-72, 5,819 yard Thornapple Pointe Golf Club, Olivet College won the team title with a 324. Worthington shared the medalist honors with Theresa Damico and Brooke Kastamo, both from Olivet.

Worthington finished her round with a 79, her fourth lowest round of the season. It was also her third win of the season. Freshman Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) sat it in a tie for 12th after shooting an 86 for the round, her second lowest of the season. Two shots back in a tie for 16th with her lowest round of the year was senior Jennifer Sir Louis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) with an 88 for the round. Sophomore Amanda McPherron (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) carded a 94 on the afternoon to finish in a tie for 31st. Rounding out the team scoring with a 98 was freshman Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) who finished 42nd.

Playing as an individual for the Thunder was freshman Jamie Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) who finished the day with a 95 to tie for 35th place.

Trine will look to put some ground between them and Hope as they host the fourth MIAA Jamboree of the season on Oct. 5 at Zollner Golf Course beginning at 1 p.m.
