Women's Golf Beats Warner

SEBRING, FLA.-- The Trine women's golf team defeated Warner University 173-183 in head-to-head play Saturday morning at Sun N Lake Golf Club.

Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) and Jennifer Sir-Louis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) each shot a 41 to lead Trine in the nine-hole match. Freshman Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/North View) carded a 43 for the Thunder. Katy Guertin rounded out the top four scorers with a 48. The top four scores on each team were counted towards the team score. The women's golfers are 1-0 in head-to-head play this season.

The Trine ladies will be competing for a chance to earn the MIAA's automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships this spring. They will compete in the three-round 54-hole MIAA Qualifying Tournament, with the winning team receiving the automatic-qualifying bid.

Trine opens spring tournament play when they travel to the Capital University Purple and White Invitational, which begins Saturday, Mar. 29.
