BEUTLER CARDS CAREER-BEST ROUND TO LEAD THUNDER

DELAVAN, Wis. - At the two-day Wisconsin-Whitewater Fall Classic, the Trine University women's golf team placed fifth out of 12 teams with scores of 345-346-691.

Played at the par-70, 5,956 yard Delbrook Golf Course, Carthage College took the team title with a two-day score of 331-322-653. Wisconsin-Oshkosh's McKenzie Paul took the individual medalist honors with rounds of 77-77-154.

Trine finished just six shots out of fourth place behind Oshkosh.

Junior Leisha Beutler (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) had her best rounds of the season as she carded a two-day total of 86-80-166 to finish in a tie for 9th. Her round of 80 was the lowest of her career and was the 10th lowest round of the tournament. Sophomore Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) finished just outside the top-10 shooting rounds of 86-81-167 to finish in a tie for 11th. Freshman Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) and Amanda McPherron (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) finished tied for 29th with rounds of 86-93-179 and 87-92-179 respectively. Rounding out the team scoring for the Thunder was freshman Jamie Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) in a tie for 43rd after finishing the weekend with scores of 92-95-187.

Trine opens their conference season when they travel to Albion on Sept. 24 for the first Jamboree beginning at 1 p.m.
