Golf Teams Earn All-Academic Distinction

NORMAN, OKLA.-- The Trine golf teams have been named an All-Academic Team by the Golf Coaches Association of America, the association  announced Wednesday.

To be eligible for recognition, the teams must have earned a 3.00 GPA or better and must submit the GPA's for each member of their official squad list for the 2013-14 year. The men's golf team was led academically by Kevin Berry, Connor Dwyer and Grant Klopfenstein, who all earned distinction on the MIAA Honor Roll. Julia DeBelly and Mikala Freeland each earned MIAA Honor Roll recognition to lead the women's team efforts in the classroom.

Each Thunder golf team placed in the top four of the MIAA last fall to advance to the conference's AQ Qualifier for the National Championships int he spring. The Trine men finished second, while the women placed third in the Qualifier.

The men open their season Aug. 29-30 in the Olivet College Invitational. The women open their season the following weekend at the same event.
