Thunder Place Fifth at UW-Whitewater

DELAVAN, WISC.-- The Trine women's golf team placed fifth in the Wisconsin-Whitewater Fall Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at Delbrook Golf Course.

The Thunder accumulated a two-round score of 669 (+85). The team improved their round two score by 11 strokes, coming in at 329 in the second round. Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) fired a 156 (+13) to tie for third and earn All-Tournament Team honors. The junior carded a season-low round of 76 in the second round. Paced by individual medalist Morgan Leep, Hope won the team competition with a score of 645 (+61).

Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) finished second among Thunder golfers with a 168. The sohomore turned in her two best rounds of the season thus far. Jamie Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) improved upon her first round score by four strokes in round two to finish with a 170. Frost's 83 in round two was six strokes better than her previous-best this fall.

Rounding out Trine's top four contributing to the team score was Amanda McPherron (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth), who finished with a 172. McPherron's performance featured her two lowest rounds of the fall season thus far.

Trine begins the MIAA portion of the schedule when they compete in the MIAA Jamboree at St. Mary's this Wednesday, Sept. 24.
