Worthington Named MIAA Golfer of the Week

FREELAND, MICH.-- Trine's Amy Worthington was named MIAA Women's Golf Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) earned medalist honors by carding a 77 in the MIAA Jamboree at Alma, held Saturday at Pine River Country Club. The performance earned the junior the eighth win of her Trine career. Earlier in the week, Worthington finished sixth in the MIAA Jamboree at St. Mary's, held at Blackthorn Golf Club. She is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in her career.

After earning First-Team All-MIAA honors last fall, Worthington has continued her strong play in MIAA matches. The junior currently has the lowest stroke average in MIAA matches at 80 per round. On the season, she is averaging a fraction over 81 per round.

Trine has had an individual medalist in each round of MIAA Jamboree play this fall, with Amanda McPherron (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) taking home medalist honors at the MIAA Jamboree at St. Mary's. The Thunder are currently in fourth place in the conference standings, with four rounds of play left in the MIAA season.

The Thunder continue Jamboree play tomorrow when they travel to Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck, Mich. for the MIAA Jamboree at Hope.
