DeBelly Named WGCA All-America Scholar

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.-- Trine's Julia DeBelly has been named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar.

DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) was one of 758 women's collegiate golfers across all divisions of competition to receive the honor. To be selected to the All-America Scholar team, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.50 cumulative G.P.A. and been a significant contributer on her team. DeBelly has excelled in the classroom at Trine as a member of the biomedical engineering program and has earned two all-conference honors on the links.

This past season was another successful one for DeBelly, as she notched her second-consecutive All-MIAA Second Team honors. The rising junior has performed at an all-conference level in each of her first two seasons with the Thunder. She improved upon the season-average from her freshman campaign by four strokes this past season.

DeBelly helped Trine to a fourth-place finish in the MIAA in the fall. The performance gave the Thunder a berth in the MIAA National Qualifier for the second-straight year. The team placed third in the qualifier.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.

Today, the WGCA represents over 500 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
