Women's Golf Season Preview

ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine women's golf team will open the season this Friday when the team hosts the Trine University Kick-Off Classic on the home links of Zollner Golf Course.

The Thunder is coming off a season in which the team placed fourth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in the fall season. The team followed that up with a third-place finish in the conference's national championship-qualifier in the spring. The team returns both of its all-conference performers from last season's squad.

Two-time All-MIAA First Team performer Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) returns for her senior season. Worthington finished second in the MIAA in scoring average in conference rounds last fall. She was one of Trine's top two golfers in every conference event last season.

Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) also returns after earning All-MIAA Second Team honors in each of her first two seasons as a member of the Thunder. DeBelly also earned recognition for her work in the classroom, as she was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar.

Other key returners from last-season's team include Jaime Frost (Saint John, Ind./Hanover Central), Katherine Guertin (Worthington, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community). Three freshman and several other returners will also compete for spots in Trine's top playing group this fall.

The season-opening Kick-Off Classic will be held this Friday, Aug. 28. The 10-team event tees off at 2 p.m. For the complete fall schedule, CLICK HERE.
