DEFIANCE, Ohio-- A group of Trine women's golfers placed fifth in the Jon Speiss Memorial, hosted Tuesday by Defiance College.
Thunder golfers combined to card a score of 391. Brooke Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) tied for 7th overall with a 91. Johnson shot a 41 on the back nine. The performance marked the first time Johnson has led Trine in scoring in her collegiate career. NCAA Division II-performer Tiffin University won the tournament with a team score of 346. The tournament featured seven teams across NCAA Divisions II, III and NAIA.

Amanda Pucher (Holly, Mich./Holly) tied for 16th for the best finish of her young freshman season. Natalie Woodley (Grayling, Mich./Grayling) tied for 24th overall. Rounding out Trine's performers were Jordan Stevens (Brownstown, Ind./Brownstown Central) and Alison Brimmer (Angola, Ind./Angola).
Trine returns to action this Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4-5 at the Carthage College Tournament On the Border.
