Thunder Fifth after Round One of Carthage Tournament

BRISTOL, Wis.-- The Trine women's golf team is tied for fifth-place after the first round of the Carthage College Shootout on the Border, held Friday at Bristol Oaks Country Club.

Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) fired a three-over 75 to lead the Thunder in round one of the two-round tournament. The senior is one stroke behind individual leader McKenzie Parks of Carthage. With a team score of 340, the Thunder are tied with Wheaton for fifth place. Sixteen teams of golfers representing 15 schools are competing in the tournament. Carthage is in first place with a score of 319 (+31).

Freshman Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) is second among Trine golfers with an 87 after 18 holes. The performance was an eight-stroke improvement from her varsity debut.

Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) and Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) rounded out Trine's top four contributing to the team score. Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) rounded out the Thunder golfers competing in the event.

The Shootout on the Border concludes with round two tomorrow.
