BRISTOL, Wis.-- Trine's Amy Worthington placed second individually to lead the Trine women's golf team to a fifth-place finish in the Carthage College Shootout On the Border.
Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) fired a four-over 76 in round two to bring her total two-round score to 151. She finished seven-over par for the entire tournament. The senior finished second only to Carthage's McKenzie Parks, who finished in the top 10 in the nation at last year's national championships. Worthington finished ahead of several other tournament participants who competed in the 2015 national tournament.
Overall, the Thunder finished with a two-round team score of 677. Trine improved its team score by three strokes in round two. Carthage won the team title with a score of 635.

Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) carded an 85 in round two, a three-stroke improvement from round one play. Frost's score of 173 tied for 30th overall among individuals. Freshman Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) finished with an 87 in each round to tie for 33rd overall.
Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) improved on her round one score by one stroke in round two. Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) rounded out Thunder participants in the tournament.
Trine will compete in the Olivet College Fall Invitational next weekend at Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich. The two-round tournament concludes Sept. 12.
