Thunder Place Sixth in Olivet Fall Invite

MARSHALL, Mich.-- The Trine women's golf team placed sixth in the Olivet College Fall Invitational, which concluded Saturday at Medalist Golf Club.

Thunder golfers carded a 350 in the second round to finish the tournament with a score of 712. Today's effort was a 12-stroke improvement from the team's performance in the first round. Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) earned a third-place finish overall. The senior moved up from a tie for sixth after round one, shooting a seven-over 79 to finish with a two-round total of 161 Worthington has earned top-three finishes in each of the two-round tournaments Trine has competed in this season.

Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) finished in a tie for 30th overall, shooting a 91 on each day of the tournament. Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) matched DeBelly's two-round score, firing an 86 in round two to do so.

Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) and Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) rounded out Trine's team group of golfers. Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) competed as an individual and matched the scores of DeBelly and Freeland to tie for 30th overall.

MIAA-member Hope won the team title with a score of 667. Wheaton College's Madeline Bond was the individual medalist with an 11-over 155.

Trine wraps up its non-conference tournament schedule Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Manchester University Fall Invitational.
