Thunder Tie for Third in Kalamazoo Jamboree

KALAMAZOO, Mich.-- The Trine women's golf team tied for third in the MIAA Jamboree at Kalamazoo, held Saturday at Milham Park Golf Course.

Thunder golfers combined to card a score of 329 to place the team in a tie with Saint Mary's. Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) and Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) each finished with seven-over 79s to tie for fifth overall. The performance kept Trine in third-place in the MIAA standings, one stroke ahead of Saint Mary's. Hope College won the Jamboree and is in first-place in the conference.

Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) fired a career-low 84 to finish third among Thunder golfers. The junior has set a new career-best mark in each of her last two rounds.

Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) rounded out Trine's top four with an 87. Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./North Manchester) carded an 89 on the final spot of the Thunder team golfers.

Jordan Stevens (Brownstown, Ind./Brownstown Central) beat her previous season-best by 12 strokes with an 84. Stevens competed as an individual. She tied for 20th overall. Amanda Pucher (Holly, Mich./Holly) also competed as an individual.

Trine continues MIAA play Thursday, Oct. 1 in the MIAA Jamboree at Calvin. The round will be contested at Thornapple Pointe Golf Club.
