Thunder Place Fourth in Calvin Jamboree

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.-- The Trine women's golf team placed fourth in the MIAA Jamboree at Calvin, contested Thursday on the links of Thornapple Pointe Golf Club.

The Thunder combined for a score of 351 (+63) on the day. The performance leaves Trine in fourth place in the MIAA conference standings through three rounds of Jamboree play. There are three rounds left in the MIAA season. The top four teams advance to the spring MIAA National Qualifier to compete for an automatic-qualifying bid to the national championships. The Thunder trail third-place Saint Mary's by 13 strokes and lead fifth-place Calvin by 36 strokes.

Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) fired an 85 to tie for eight overall. The finish the freshman's best of the season in an MIAA round. Barnett has seen an improvement in her score in each round of conference play thus far.

Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) finished one stroke behind to tie for 11th. Worthington is in second-place in the individual standings after today's round. She is averaging an 81 in conference rounds.

Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) carded an 88 to finish third among Trine golfers. Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) rounded out the top four with a 92.

Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) rounded out the team scorers for the Thunder. Jordan Stevens (Brownstown, Ind./Brownstown Central) competed as an individual.

Trine will host its Jamboree round this Saturday on the links of Zollner Golf Course.
