Women's Golf Wins Trine Jamboree

ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine women's golf team won the MIAA Jamboree at Trine, held Saturday on the links of Zollner Golf Course.

Thunder golfers fought rain and windy conditions to earn a team score of 337. Trine finished one stroke ahead of Saint Mary's. The Thunder remained in fourth place in the conference standings with the performance. Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Northview) tied for second, carding an eight-over 80. DeBelly finished even on nine holes and had the best average on par-3s of any player in the tournament. Her score was six strokes better than her previous average in conference rounds.

Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) turned in her best-ever finish in a conference round as she tied for fifth. Gordon's 83 was a career-low round. She finished even on eight holes.

Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) and Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) rounded out Trine's top four with 87s. Worthington entered the round third in the conference in scoring.

Mikala Freeland (Danville, Ind./Danville Community) rounded out the team competitors for the Thunder. Natalie Woodley (Grayling, Mich./Grayling) competed as an individual.

The MIAA Jamboree at Trine was the last Jamboree round of the fall. The MIAA Championship rounds will be contested Friday and Saturday, Oct. 9-10 at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Mich.

The top four team finishers in the MIAA fall season will have the chance to compete for an automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships in the spring. The complete MIAA fall standings are listed below.
