Thunder in Sixth after One Round at Whitewater Invite

DELAVAN, Wis.-- The Trine women's golf team is in sixth place after round one of the UW-Whitewater Spring Invitational.

Thunder golfers combined for a score of 335 to finish 43-over on the day. Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio / Northview) led Trine with one of the top performances in round one as she fired a 78 to finish the day five-over par. The junior is tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard. The round was DeBelly's best of the 2015-16 season. Trine is part of a tight middle of the pack in the tournament as five teams are separated by fewer than 10 strokes.

Jaime Frost (Saint John, Ind. / Hanover Central) played her best round of golf of the year, carding a season-best 83 (10+). Frost's score today was 10 strokes better than her season average and beat her previous season-best by two strokes.

Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) fired an 85, while Brooke Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Prairie Ridge) carded an 89 to round out the top four scorers for the Thunder. Johnson's score was a season-best, while Gordon's was her best this spring.

Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind. / Manchester) rounded out Trine's team golfers, while Jordan Stevens (Brownstown, Ind. / Brownstown Central) competed as an individual.

The UW-Whitewater Spring Invitational concludes tomorrow.
