Women's Golf Places Fourth in National Qualifier

SAUGATUCK, Mich.-- The Trine women's golf team wrapped up its season with a fourth-place finish in the MIAA National Qualifier, which concluded Saturday at Ravines Golf Club.

Thunder golfers combined for a score of 346 in rainy and windy conditions on the final day of the tournament. The performance brought Trine's three-round score to 1038. Hope College won the MIAAs automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships with a three-round total of 962. Saint Mary's golfer Taylor Kehoe tied a course record with a three-over 75 today.

Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio / Northview) tied for seventh with an 83 to lead the Thunder in the final round. DeBelly's round put the final touches on a season that saw the junior earn her third straight All-MIAA Second Team honors in the fall.

Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind. / Manchester) tied for 11th overall with an 86. Barnett tied her best score this spring, both of which came in the National Qualifier. Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) finished one stroke behind with an 87.

Jaime Frost (Saint John, Ind. / Hanover Central) rounded out the top four scorers for the Thunder with a 90. Brooke Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Prairie Ridge) rounded out Trine's participants in the tournament.

The MIAA National Qualifier concluded the 2015-16 season for Trine. Team results are listed below.
