BRISTOL, Wisc.—The Trine women's golf team placed fourth at the Carthage "Shootout on the Border" on Saturday afternoon.
The Thunder finished with a total score of 682. University of Wisconsin-Whitewater took first at 69 over-645. Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association member Hope College placed second, one stroke behind UW-Whitewater at 70 over.
Senior Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) was the top individual finisher for the Thunder taking 15th at 21 over-165. Gordon shot a career-low 78 on day two. Classmate Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) was 16th at 22 over-166.
UW-Whitewater's Ashley Hofmeister finished as the top individual of the tournament at 11 over-155. Madeline Bond of Wheaton and Allie Girard of Lake Forrest tied for second at 14 over 158.
Also golfing for Trine were Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) at 26 over-170, Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) at 39 over-183 and Brooke Johnston (Crystal Lake Ill./Prairie Ridge) at 43 over-187.
The Thunder will be back in action next weekend at the Kyle Campbell Invitational in Marshall, Mich.
