ANGOLA, Ind.—The Trine women's golf team took second place at its Trine Fall Classic on Wednesday afternoon at the Zollner Golf Course.
Senior Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) shot 77 to tie her career best. The Thunder senior placed third individually one stroke behind the leaders. Fellow senior Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) shot 78 to place fourth. Also golfing on Trine's A Team were Claire Barnett (84, 13th) (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester), Ryleigh Gordon (89, T16th) (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) and Brooke Johnson (91, 20th) (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge). Frost had two birdies on the day, while DeBelly and Barnett each had one.
Trine totaled 328 and was eight strokes behind the winners University of Northern Ohio. Natalia Quintero of Northern Ohio and Cleary's Madison Smith were the individual medalists at four over-76. Cleary finished in third place with 331, while Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Olivet placed fourth with 333.
Trine will open MIAA jamboree play on Sept. 19 when it will compete at Albion. Golfers will tee off at 1 p.m.
