Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Fifth at First MIAA Jamboree

MARSHALL, Mich.—The Trine women's golf team finished tied for fifth at its first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree of the year.

The Thunder golfers combined to shoot 353 and tied with Calvin College. Hope College topped the leaderboard at 309, and Saint Mary's followed in second at 323.

Senior Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) turned in Trine's top individual score and tied for 17th at 14 over-86. Fellow senior Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) finished in a tie for 23rd at 16 over-88. Also golfing for the Thunder was Brooke Johnson (T28th, 89) (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge), Julia DeBelly (30th, 90) (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) and Claire Barnett (T34, 93) (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester). Jordan Stevens (Brownstown, Ind./Brownstown Central) golfed as an individual and placed T39th at 96.

Hope College had the top two individual placers with Nicole Meyer coming in first at even-72 and Megan Klintworth taking second at three over-75.

The Thunder will return to action on Saturday for the second MIAA jamboree at Saint Mary's.
