Women's Golf Places Fifth at Third MIAA Jamboree

SAUGATUCK, Mich.—The Trine women's golf team took fifth place at the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree on Tuesday.

Trine totaled 359 shots on the day. Host school Hope College took the top spot with 322, one stroke ahead of Olivet at 323. Saint Mary's College placed third at 335.

Senior Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) was the top individual finisher for the Thunder placing 14th, while shooting 43 on the front nine and 42 on the back to combine for 85. Her classmate Jaime Frost (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) tied for 15th one shot behind her at 86. Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) placed in a tie for 20th at 88. Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind./Manchester) took 36th shooting 100, while Brooke Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) shot 104 for 42nd. Amanda Pucher (Holly, Mich./Holly) competed individually and turned in a round of 101 for a tie at 37th.

Hope College's Megan Klintworth was the individual medalist at three-over 75, while Saint Mary's Taylor Kehoe finished two strokes back at 77.

The Thunder will compete in the final MIAA jamboree on Saturday at the Pine River Country Club in Alma, Mich. Play begins at 1 p.m.
