Women's Golf Finishes Tied for Sixth in Carthage Shootout

BRISTOL, WIS. – The Trine women's golf team finished sixth in the Carthage Shootout on the Border out of the 17 competing teams.  The team finished with a two day total of 704 (353 + 351) which tied them with Lake Forest College (Ill.) and Wheaton College (Ill.).

The Thunder were led on the weekend by sophomore Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) who finished tied for 11th with a two day total of 166 (78 + 88). Senior Brooke Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) was second on the team with 177 strokes (90 + 87) good enough to finished tied for 37th individually. Senior Jordan Stevens (Brownstown/Brownstown) and sophomore Mackenna Kelly rounded out the scoring for the Thunder.

University of Wisconsin-Whitewater won the tournament with a two day total of 649. Hope (Mich.) College and host Carthage (Wisc.) College.

The team will next compete on Tuesday, September 5 in Defiance, Ohio at Jon Spiess Memorial Collegiate Golf Tournament.
