Thunder Make Day 2 Push to Finish Sixth

OLIVET, MICH. -- The Trine women's golf team finished sixth in the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet College at the Medalist Golf Club. The Thunder finsihed with a two day total of 700 strokes (356 + 344) after finding themselves in the eighth position following the completion of round one on Friday.

DePauw University finished both rounds in first to win the invitational with 632 strokes (314 + 318). Fellow Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association members Olivet College (342 + 330 = 672) and Hope College (344 + 329 = 673) finished second and third, respectively, at the event.

Sophomore Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) led the Thunder with a two day total of 169 (87 + 82) which was good enough to finish 13th individually. Seniors Jordan Stevens (Brownstown/Brownstown) with 176 (89 + 87), Brooke Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge) with 177 (92 + 85) and Natalie Woodley (Grayling, Mich./Grayling) with 181 (88 + 93) rounded out the team's scorecard.

Freshman Olivia Philips competed as an individual and finished with a two day total of 192 (94 + 98).

Trine's next competition is back at the Medalist Golf Course in the seasons first MIAA Jamboree which will take place Thursday, Sept. 21, with tee times starting at 1:00 p.m.
