Thunder Wrap-Up Competition at Indiana Wesleyan Invite

MARION, IND.  --  The Trine University women's golf team shot a final round team score of 343 strokes to end the two-day Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational with 692 total strokes (349+343=692) at Arbor Trace Golf Club in Marion, Ind.

Junior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) ended the tournament as the top finsher for Trine with a total of 168 strokes (83+85=168) and placed in a tie for 36th overall.  Freshman Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) improved her first round round by six strokes with an 82 on the final day to end the tournament with 170 strokes (88+82=170).

Sophomore Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) carded an 87 on the day and finished third on the team at 173 total strokes (86+87=173) and junior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) was fourth with an 89 in the final round and a two-day total of 181 strokes (92+89=181).

Freshman Becca Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) rounded out the top-five with an event total of 185 strokes after firing rounds of 94 and 91 strokes.

Fellow freshman Karlee Fackler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage), competed as an individual for Trine in the tournament and followed up her first-round score of 96 strokes with a 94 in round two to end the tournament with 190 strokes.

Trine will next complete in the 18-hole Jon P. Spiess Memorial Tournament hosted by Defiance College on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at Eagle Rock Golf Course in Defiance, Ohio.  The round is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
