Women's Golf Ninth After First Round of Campbell Invite

MARSHALL, MICH. -- The Trine University women's golf team posted a first-round score of 354 strokes and are currently in ninth place at the Kyle Campbell Invitational hosted by Olivet (Mich.) College at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich.

Junior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) led the Thunder on day one with a 18-hole total of 86 strokes and is tied for 30th overall individually.  Fellow junior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) and freshman Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) both recorded rounds of 88 strokes to finish second on the team.

Freshman Becca Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) had the fourth-lowest score at 92 strokes and sophomore Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) rounded out the five Trine competitors with a score of 103 strokes.

The Thunder will conclude the tournament with the final round tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 8) at The Medalist Club.  The round is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
