Thunder Tie for Eighth at MIAA Jamboree #2

GRANGER, IND.  --  The Trine University women's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #2 hosted by St. Mary's (Ind.) College at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Ind.

Trine shot a combined team score of 389 strokes to tie Kalamazoo (Mich.) College for eighth place.  Host school, St. Mary's, came in first with a team score of 324 strokes and was followed by Hope (Mich.) College in second with 351 strokes.  Calvin (Mich.) College rounded out the top-three teams at 356 strokes.

Junior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) posted the lowest round of the day for the Thunder at 89 strokes and placed in a tie for 19th overall.  Sophomore Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) followed with a round of 98 strokes to place second on the team.

Freshman Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) finished a stroke back of Baughman at 99 strokes and fellow freshman Becca Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) was fourth with a round of 103 strokes.

Freshman Karlee Fackler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) was the final Trine competitor and shot a 106 to place fifth on the team.

Trine will compete in the third of fourth MIAA Jamboree events on Tuesday, Sept. 25 in Saugatuck, Mich.  Hope will be the host team with the round slated to begin at 1 p.m. at The Ravines Golf Club.
