Trine Finishes Seventh at MIAA Jamboree #4

KALAMAZOO, MICH.  --  The Trine University women's golf team placed seventh of nine teams at the final Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree event of the fall season at Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo, Mich.

Junior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) led the way for the Thunder with a round of 86 strokes to finish in a tie for 15th individually.  Freshman Becca Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) was second with ascore of 91 strokes.

The duo of junior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) and sophomore Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) both carded rounds of 93 strokes to tie for the third lowest scores on the team.

Freshman Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) rounded out the team qualifying scores with an 18-hole score of 94 strokes.

Freshman Karlee Fackler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) tied Baughman with a 91 as an individual to complete the list of Trine competitors in the event. 

As a team, the Thunder finished with an overall score of 363 strokes to place seventh.  St. Mary's (Ind.) College won the event with a score of 306 strokes, followed by Hope (Mich.) College with 341 strokes.  Calvin (Mich.) was third at 342 strokes.

Trine will wrap-up its fall schedule with the two-day MIAA Championship on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 5-6.  The championship will be played at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Mich.  The first round on Friday is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
