Women's Golf Starts Spring Off With Win Against BW

KISSIMMEE, FLA.  --  The Trine University women's golf team defeated Baldwin Wallace University, 369-382, in a dual match at the Kissimmee Bay Country Club in Kissimmee, Fla.

Junior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) shot the lowest round of the day for the Thunder of 88 strokes on the par 71, 5,891-yard course layout and placed second overall.  Freshman Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) had the second lowest score on the team at 90 strokes and was third among the field.

Sophomore Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) finished two spots back of Doumont in a tie for fifth with an 18-hole round of 94 strokes.  Junior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) rounded out the team-qualifying scores at 97 strokes.

Also competing was the duo of freshman Karlee Fackler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) and junior Morgan Barrasas (Hobart, Ind./Hobart).  Fackler posted a single-round total of 99 strokes and Barrasas carded a round of 105 strokes.

Trine will compete again tomorrow (Thursday, Mar. 7) in a tri-match against BW and Webber International University at Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, Fla.  The event is slated to start at 11:30 a.m.
