Fackler Leads Trine at Tri-Match

LAKE WALES, FLA.  --  Freshman Karlee Fackler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) led the Trine University women's golf team in a tri-match hosted by Webber International (Fla.) University at Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, Fla.

In addition to competing against members of the Webber women's golf team, the Thunder also went head-to-head against Baldwin Wallace (Ohio) University.  Trine and BW were the only teams that qualified in the overall team scores with the Yellow Jackets taking top honors with an overall score of 356 strokes.  The Thunder finished the event with a team score of 364 strokes.

Fackler carded an 18-hole round total of 88 strokes and finished third overall in a field of 17 golfers.  Junior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) was second on the team with a round of 90 strokes and was tied for fifth overall.  

Sophomore Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) also finished in the top-10 with a score of 91 strokes which put her in a tie for eighth.  Freshman Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) and junior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) both shot a round of 95 strokes to round out the individual team eligible scores.

Also competing for the Thunder was junior Morgan Barrasas (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) and carded a round of 103 strokes.

Trine are scheduled to compete in the two-day Thomas More (Ky.) College Spring Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Mar. 23-24 at Perry Park Golf Resort in Perry Park, Ky.
