ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine University women's golf team defeated Kalamazoo (Mich.) College, 15-5, in a recently scheduled matchup at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.
The two teams played five individual matches with awarding one point for winning the first nine holes, one point for wining the final nine holes, and two points for posting the lower overall score over 18 holes.
Each individual could earn a maximum of four points and each team could accumulate a maximum of 20 points.
Three of the individual matches resulted in four points for Trine. Junior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) freshman Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) and junior Morgan Barrasas (Hobart, Ind./Hobart) all captured points for the lowest score per nine holes and two points for having the lowest overall score against their opponent for 18 holes for a grand total of four points each.
Freshman Karlee Fackler (Fort Wayne, Ind./Heritage) captured a point by posting the lower score on her first nine holes and then added two more points by recording the lower 18-hole total against her opponent to round out the team scoring en route to the 15-5 final.
Trine is scheduled to travel to Saugatuck, Mich. to take on Hope (Mich.) College in a head-to-head matchup on Saturday, Mar. 30. The two teams will face each other at the Ravines Golf Club at 1 p.m.
