ANGOLA, IND. -- Trine University women's golfer Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's "Golfer of the Week."
Welper helped lead the Thunder to a third place finish at the season-opening Trine Fall Kick-Off Classic this past Friday at Zollner Golf Course.
Individually, Welper posted a career-best score of 72 strokes and also finished as the tournament's top golfer. Her round included a streak of five straight birdies on her way to winning by three strokes over her nearest opponent.
Trine will travel to Marion, Ind. for the two-day Indiana Wesleyan Fall Invitational at Arbor Trace Golf Course beginning next Friday, Aug. 30. The round on Friday is set to begin at 1 p.m., followed by the final round on Saturday (Aug. 31) at 9 a.m.
