Women's Golf Finishes Fourth at MIAA Jamboree #1

ALMA, MICH.  --  Sophomore Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) tied her career low score of 77 strokes to lead the Trine University women's golf team to a fourth place finish at the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree event hosted by Alma (Mich.) College at Pine River Country Club in Alma, Mich.

The Thunder finished with a team score of 338 strokes to place fourth of nine teams and were just four shots back of the two schools who tied for second place.  St. Mary's (Ind.) College came in first place with 312 strokes.  Host school Alma and Hope (Mich.) College both ended up with totals of 334 strokes to tie for second.

Doumont's round of five-over par (77) put her in third place overall.  Freshman Maire Sullivan (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth) was second on the team with an 18-hole score of 82 strokes and placed in the top-10 in a tie for ninth place.  She was followed by senior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) with a round of 87 strokes which put her in a tie for 25th.

Senior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) and sophomore Becca Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich./Lutheran Northwest) rounded out the individual team scorers with rounds of 92 and 94 strokes, respectively.

In addition, freshman Lily Williamson (Colfax, Ind./Western Boone) competed as an individual and posted a score of 88 strokes.

The Thunder are scheduled to compete at the Duck Lake Invite hosted by Albion (Mich.) College on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Duck Lake Country Club in Albion, Mich.  The single-round tournament is scheduled to begin at noon.
