Sullivan Leads Women's Golf at MIAA Jamboree #2

ADRIAN, MICH.  --  Freshman Maire Sullivan (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth) recorded a top-15 finish individually to help lead the Trine University women's golf team to a fifth place overall finish at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree #2 hosted by Adrian College at Lenawee Country Club in Adrian, Mich.

The Thunder finished with an overall team score of 355 strokes to place fifth of nine teams.  St. Mary's (Ind.) College won the event with a team total of 326 strokes and Olivet (Mich.) College was second at 330 strokes.  Calvin (Mich.) College rounded out the top three with 339 strokes.

Sullivan finished the single-round tournament with a score of 87 strokes which put her in a tie for 15th overall among the field.  Senior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) posted a top-20 score of 88 strokes to finish second on the team and tied for 20th overall.  

Fellow senior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) and sophomore Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) both carded rounds of 90 strokes and freshman Lily Williamson (Colfax, Ind./Western Boone) fired a score of 96 strokes.

Junior Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) also saw action for the Thunder as an individual.  Phillips navigated the course with a 18-hole score of 94 strokes and placed in a tie for 35th.

Trine returns to the course on Saturday, Sept. 28 when it hosts the third MIAA event of the season at Zollner Golf Course in Angola.  The round is slated to start at 1 p.m.
