Women's Golf Places Fourth in First Event of Spring Schedule

ANGOLA, IND.  --  The Trine University women's golf team placed fourth in the Trine Spring Invitational featuring all nine Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schools at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.

The Thunder finished with a team score of 354 strokes to place fourth of nine teams.  St. Mary's (Ind.) College captured the event with a team score of 319 strokes.  Calvin (Mich.) University was second with 325 strokes and Hope (Mich.) College finished a stroke behind at 326 strokes to take third place.

Sophomore Maire Sullivan (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth) led the Trine scoring with a round of 87 strokes and placed in a tie for 18th overall.  Senior Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) was second with a single-round of 88 strokes and was followed by sophomore Lily Williamson (Colfax, Ind./Western Boone) who carded a round of 89 strokes.

Junior Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) and sophomore Reagan Guthrie (Genoa, Ohio/Genoa Area) rounded out the team eligible scores with rounds of 90 and 92 strokes, respectively.

Additionally, the Thunder had one golfer compete as an individual in sophomore Annabelle Burkholder (Lima, Ohio/Bath) who fired an 18-hole total of 104 strokes.

Trine will continue the season with its second tournament of the spring, the St. Mary's Invitational, on Tuesday, Mar. 30.  The round is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Ind.
