Three in Top-Ten Lead Thunder to Second Place Finish

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Trine University women's golf team finished competition at the IU East Invite in second place with three student-athletes finishing top-ten on the leaderboard as individuals. The Thunder finished the event with a two-day score of 650 strokes, finishing 16 strokes behind Midway University.

Senior Lily Williamson finished day two with a 79, giving her the team's two-day low score of 157. Overall the tally put her in a tie for second as an individual. Williamson posted four crucial pars as she made the turn to secure the finish today.

Fellow senior Máire Sullivan posted the team's low score of the day needing just 76 strokes to finish the course. After starting on hole 11, she would finish the back-nine with two pars and a birdie before completing the front-nine with eight pars. The score gave her a two-day total of 160 strokes and moved her into seventh as an individual.

After leading the team on Friday, sophomore Grace Dubec finished her second day with a score of 82 for a total of 159 in the tournament. She came in a tie for fifth as an individual. After a shaky start to the day, Dubec had a strong middle portion of the round, recording eight pars during the middle nine holes.

Bailey Bravata shaved four strokes off her score by posting an 85 today. She recorded the team's only other birdie of the round on hole nine. Her total score for the weekend was 174 putting her in a tie for 25th at the event. Reagan Guthrie also shaved four strokes off her score finishing the day with 88 strokes. Caroline Boyd competed as an individual for Trine and posted an 88 today.

The Thunder will next take the course when they travel to The Medalist Golf Course for the Kyle Campbell Invite. Round one of the event begins at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 9.
