Thunder Eighth During First Day of Kyle Campbell Memorial

MARSHALL, Mich. – The Trine University women's golf team took to the links to compete in the first day of the Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational hosted by Olivet College at the Medalist Golf Club. The team finished the day solidly in eighth place out of the 16 competing teams.

The Thunder posted a team score of 348 strokes, 11 better than the two ninth-place teams and seven strokes out of seventh place. Bethel (Ind.) University leads the tournament after posting a day one score of 318 strokes.

Individually, senior Máire Sullivan paced the team finishing the day with a ten-over 82 for the round. The highlight of the round was a birdie on the par-three third hole. Sullivan is currently in a tie for 11th as an individual in the event.

Fellow senior Lily Williamson finished second on the team with 84 strokes. She recorded a pair of birdies during the front nine both coming on par-fours. She currently sits tied for 18th individually.

Sophomore Grace Dubec finished the day with 90 strokes while senior Reagan Guthrie and sophomore Bailey Bravata both turned in scores 92 to round out the scorecard for the team. Sophomore Caroline Boyd competed as an individual at the event and also posted a 92.

Trine will look to make a move tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 10 in the second day of competition at the event. The day features an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
