Dubec Finishes Top-10 at MIAA Jamboree #1

GRANGER, Ind. – The Trine University women's golf team competed on Wednesday afternoon in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree event of the 2022 fall season, hosted by Saint Mary's College. The Thunder placed seventh overall in the first conference event at Knollwood Country Club.

The Belles of Saint Mary's were the event winners with a combined score of 313. Trine shot a 352, six strokes off of Albion College.

The leading golfer for the Thunder was sophomore Grace Dubec. Dubec fired a 78, including an even back nine with two birdies. On the 14th hole, she hit a two on a par-3 and two holes later, Dubec went 1-under on the par-5 16th hole as well. She wrapped up play Wednesday tied for sixth on the player leaderboard.

Máire Sullivan was next with a score of 87. The senior finished in a tie for 27th in the MIAA field and hit for par on four of the final six holes on the course.

Senior Lily Williamson shot a 91 in the team's first MIAA match of the season, and was the only other team member to record a birdie. Her birdie also came on the par-3 14th hole and shaved five strokes off her score compared to the front nine.

Reagan Guthrie (96) and Caroline Boyd (98) were the other two team scoring members for Trine. Sophomore Bailey Bravata was the second-best individual student-athlete at the jamboree. She tied for 20th after shooting an 83.

MIAA Jamboree #2 takes place in one week on Wednesday, September 21 at Tecumseh Golf Club, hosted by the Adrian College Bulldogs.
