MIAA Action Begins for Trine Women's Golf

JACKSON, Mich. – The Trine University women's golf team opened the conference portion of the season with Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #1 at the Cascades Golf Course.

As a team, the Thunder tied for fourth on the team leaderboard with host Albion College at 347. Saint Mary's College led the way with a team victory (326) while Adrian College was second (333) and Calvin University third (339).

The duo of Mae Norman and Grace Dubec led the way for Trine with matching scores of 86 on the day. That put them in a tie for 14th place on the playerboard. Grace Thiele was one stroke back of those two with a score of 87 and finished in a tie for 17th.

To complete the team scoring, Calley Ruff fired an 88 on Thursday afternoon. Ruff was mired in a tie for 21st spot. Also competing for the team was Bailey Bravata, who was 41st after turning in a 95. Competing as an individual in the round, Caroline Boyd shot an 88 to enter into the same tie as Ruff in 21st.

The team takes a nearly two week hiatus from the course before their next event, MIAA Jamboree #2, on Wednesday, September 27 at Thornapple Point Golf Club.
