Women's Golf Finish Day One Ninth at Polar Beaver Classic

HARROD, Ohio – The Trine University women's golf team opened competition at the 2024 Polar Beaver Classic at the Colonial Golfers Club, ending the day in sole possession of ninth position. They have a team score of 63 over par after the round.

Grace Dubec turned in the low round for the Thunder, posting a an 11-over score of 83 strokes. It was a steady round for the junior, going six over in the first nine and five over on the back. She ends the day in a tie for 21st as an individual.

Both Grace Thiele and Mae Norman finished the day with 88 strokes to tie for second on the team and 43rd overall. The two were tied for low team score after the front nine, but coming in with 40 strokes, before facing struggles in the second part of their day. Despite her troubles Thiele came up with a birdie on hole 13, the lone under-par tally for the team.

The last counting score of the day went to Caroline Boyd who finished the day with 92 strokes. Bailey Bravata finished with 94 strokes as the last of the lineup. Competing as an individual Calley Ruff turned in a score of 91 strokes.

The Thunder are hold their position by seven strokes over Hanover College, they are 17 strokes behind both Bluffton University and Heidelberg College who are tied for seventh.

Day two of the event is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, April 6. It will be played at the Hidden Creek Golf Club in Lima, Ohio.
