Thunder Bounce Back with Win Over Lions

ANGOLA, IND. – The Trine women's NCAA hockey team defeated Finlandia University 5-1 to split the weekend series with the Lions.

The Thunder would pull out to a three goal lead in the first period that the Lions would be unable to overcome through the rest of the game.

In the sixth minute, freshman forward Briana Carlson (St. Charles, Ill.) would tally Trine's first goal of the season with fellow forwards Olivia Coyne (Allison Park, Penn.) and Sula Argyis (Woodhaven, Mich.) adding assists. Five minutes later the three would once again combine for a goal, this time with Argyis putting the puck in the net and Coyne and Carlson adding the assists.

Freshman forward Sierra Westner (Saginaw, Mich.) would score her first of two goals in the contest during the 19th minute of the first period. Freshmen defenders Kelly Cameron (Nowthen, Minn.) and Bailey Goodwin (Fort Wayne, Ind.) would tally assists on the power-play goal.

The lone goal of the second period once again came from Westner, with Cameron and forward Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) recording the assists.

The Thunder's final goal, was Argyis's second of the game with Carlson and Jade Pandres (Eagle River, Ala.) adding the assists. Argyis (2+1=3) and Carlson (1+2=3) would finished tied atop the team with three points apiece in the game.

Molly Scarborough garnered the start for the game and turned around 22 shots, allowing only a lone goal in the third period.

The Thunder will face a tough challenge in their next contest when nationally-second-ranked Adrian College comes to Angola for a 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.
