Women's Hockey Defeated by Marian

FOND DU LAC, WISC. – The Trine women's hockey team was defeated on Saturday by Marian University by the score of 4-1.

After falling to the Sabres on Friday the Thunder began the second half of the weekend doubleheader with good defense. Trine kept the home team off the board for the first two periods of the game. A large part of that success was sophomore Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.), who made 20 saves in those periods.

Unfortunately the Thunder could not capitalize on the offensive end to go along with the defensive success.
In the third period, things changed quickly as Marian found a crack in the Trine defense. The Sabres would score four goals in the period, with one coming on an empty net in the waning seconds of the game.

The Thunder's lone goal of the contest was an unassisted power play score by freshman forward Kailey Cameron (Nowthen, Minn.) in the 19th minute of the period. It was her second goal of the season.

"Despite the score, we definitely saw some better things today," said coach Tom Hofman, "But our youth still shows itself with inconsistency on the ice. We expect a lot of hard work from the team in preparation for Lake Forest."

The Thunder will have time to get that work as they do not take the ice again until Friday, Dec. 1 when they travel to Lake Forest College for an 8 p.m. contest.
