LAKE FOREST, ILL. -- The Trine women's NCAA hockey team was defeated this evening by Lake Forest College by the score of 8-0.
The Foresters were once again able to capitalize early in the game, scoring in the third minute of the first period. They would finish the game with two goals in the first, two goals in the second and four goals in the third to achieve the 8-0 final score.
The Thunder, despite the score, weathered the opposition admirably. They played most of the game in their defensive zone and faced a total of 53 shots on goal in the contest. Sophomore Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) got the start in net for Trine and finished the night with 45 saves.
Six different skaters tallied shots for the Thunder, but the team was unable to find the back of the net.
Trine will return home for a pair of games next weekend. On Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. they will face off with Aurora University in a non-conference contest. Then on Saturday, Dec. 9, also at 7 p.m., they will take on Davenport University's ACHA D1 team in an exhibition game.
