Aurora Too Much for Trine

Aurora Too Much for Trine

ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine women's hockey team was defeated by Aurora University this evening by the score of 4-1.

Both teams came out in the first period and played cautiously. For the first eight minutes of the game, neither side pressed an advantage. Instead, both sides spent the time feeling out the opponent's defense.

That all changed when freshman forward Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) took the puck the length of the ice and put a beautiful attempt over the near side shoulder of the Spartan goalie. The goal was Isaacson's first of the season. Freshman defender Bailey Goodwin (Fort Wayne, Ind.) added the assist on the goal, her second of the season.

Aurora would respond with two goals of their own in the first period to give them a 2-1 lead going into the first intermission. They would add another goal in each of the final two periods to finish the game with the 4-1 victory.

Sophomore Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) got the start in net for the Thunder and, despite giving up the four goals, made some good saves. In particular, she fended off a two on none opportunity in the second period that kept the Spartans from building an even more commanding lead.

The Thunder will look to bounce back tomorrow, December 9, in an exhibition game against Davenport University at 7 p.m. before entering the midseason break during the Holiday season.
