Women's Hockey Wins Road Opener

GENEVA, Ill. – The Trine University women's hockey team came away with the road victory over host Aurora University by the score of 1-0.

The lone goal of the contest came in the first period. Sophomore forward Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) came away with the goal, the first of the season for both her and the team.

Two defenders, sophomore Jade Pandres (Eagle River, Alaska) and freshman Natasha Strbiak (Renton, Wash.), both recorded assists on the goal.

The goal gave the Thunder the 1-0 lead which would be enough for the victory as the team turned in a stunning defensive performance for the rest of the evening to finish off the shutout victory.

Freshman goalie Anna Cvitkovich (Olmstead, Ohio) led the way defensively for Trine turning in a 19 save shutout in the first start of her career.

The victory gives Trine the split in the weekend doubleheader with the Spartans as they leave the weekend with a 1-1 overall record.

The team will begin Northern Collegiate Athletic Association (NCHA) play when they next take the ice. They will travel to face Finlandia University on Friday, November 2 with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
