HANCOCK, Mich. -- The Trine Unversity women's hockey team turned in another strong defensive performance to come away with their second straight 1-0 win, this time against Finlandia University.

Both teams overcame multiple power-play opportunities by their opponent in the first two periods and two teams entered the final period of play tied 0-0.

The game seemed ready to head to an overtime period as it remained scoreless heading into the 17th minute of the third period. But Freshman forward Brandi Wilson (Fenton, Mich.) finally broke the tie with the first goal of her career. Both sophomore Kirsten Vandenheuvel (Denfield, Ontario) and freshman Devin Dzumaryk (Milford, Mich.) recorded assists on the goal.

Junior Molly Scarborough got the start in goal for the Thunder and came away with her first shutout of the season on the back of 18 saves.

The Thunder improve to 2-1 and 1-0 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) following the win. They will complete the weekend doubleheader by taking on Finlandia again tomorrow, Nov. 3 at 4:15 p.m.
