HANCOCK, Mich. -- Sophomore forward Hannah Nelson (Libertyville, Ill.) scored two goals to lead the Trine Univesity women's hockey team over host Finlandia University, 5-2.

The Thunder looked to be in trouble in the early moments of the game, giving up a first-minute goal to the Lions to fall behind 1-0.

The Team roared back taking a 2-1 lead in the final five minutes of the period. The first goal came from Nelson with an assist by sophomore forward Sula Argyris (Woodhaven, Mich.). The second goal was scored by sophomore defenseman Kailey Cameron (Nowthen, Minn.) with an assist from freshman forward Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.).

The teams traded goals in the second period to enter the final intermission with Trine still leading 3-2. Freshman Ava Russano (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) scored the Thunder's goal, which would end up being the game-winner, with an assist from fellow freshman Kat Burke.

Trine added two security goals just 30 seconds apart in the 18th minute of the final period to take their final lead of 5-2. Sophomore Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) scored the first with assists from fellow sophomores Olivia Coyne (Allison Park, Pa.) and Sierra Westner (Saginaw, Mich.). Nelson finished off the scoring with her second goal of the evening with an assist from Argyris.

"This team is really starting to come together," said head coach Tom Hofman following the game, "We got production from three out of four lines today and overall we were able to find a new gear to finish the game strong."

Freshman Ana Cvitkovich (Olmsted, Ohio) got the start in net for the Thunder picking up her second win with 17 saves.

The win gives Trine their first weekend-sweep in school history while improving their record to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the Northern Collegiate Athletic Association (NCHA).

"As great as this weekend has been," continued Hofman, "We have a lot of work ahead as we prepare for nationally-ranked Adrian College next week. I expect this group to narrow the gap with the NCHA defending champions."

The team will start next weekend's competition with a home contest on Saturday, Nov. 10 against the Bulldogs. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
