Isaacson Offensive Explosion Leads Thunder Over Sabres

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Sophomore Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) finished the game with four goals to lead the Trine University women's hockey team over visiting Marian University by the score of 5-1.

Isaacson racked her first goal in the 14th minute of the first period giving the Thunder the 1-0 lead. The goal came off of a rebounded shot from teammate Emily Moore (London, Ontario) with another assist credited to sophomore Kailey Cameron (Nowthen, Minn.).

Trine added to their lead just one minute into the second period when Isaacson recorded her second goal of the afternoon. This time the team passed the puck spectacularly giving Isaacson the open shot near the goal. Sophomore Jade Pandres (Eagle River, Alaska) joined Cameron with assists on the goal which gave the team the 2-0 lead.

Marian came up with their lone goal of the contest with a power-play tally in the fifth minute of the period to pull within one at 2-1.

Four minutes later Isaacson finished off her hat-trick to pull ahead by two again. Cameron came up with the steal at center ice and carried the puck into the offensive end, dropping it back to a waiting Isaacson. Isaacson placed the puck perfectly over the goalies left shoulder to give the Thunder the 3-1 lead which they would carry into the final intermission.

But Isaacson wasn't done, scoring her fourth and final goal just one minute into the final period. This time she once again collected a loose rebound and put it away for a score. Sophomore Sierra Westner (Saginaw, Mich.) and freshman Devin Dzumaryk (Milford, Mich.) recorded assists on the goal.

Freshman Brandi Wilson (Fenton, Mich.) finished off the scoring in the contest taking a loose puck the length of the ice for an unassisted goal, her second of the season, which gave Trine the final lead of 5-1.

Junior Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) got the start for the Thunder in net and played spectacularly. She finished the game with 35 saves allowing just the one goal to the Sabres.

Trine improves to 4-3-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association following the victory. They will next take the ice when they host Lake Forest College for a weekend doubleheader starting with a game on Friday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
